TARA LIPINSKI

Olympic Ice Skating Legend

Tara Lipinski

Tara Lipinski is the youngest Olympic, World, National, and World Professional Figure Skating Champion in history. She began her domination of the sport at age fourteen when she captured the US National and World titles in 1997 and won the Champions' Series Finals in both 1997 and 1998. In 1998, at the Winter Games in Nagano, Japan, Tara sealed her place in the record books and in the hearts of people everywhere when, in a stunning victory, she became the youngest person to win an individual Gold Medal in any Winter Olympic sport at the age of 15.

Following the Nagano Olympics, Tara joined the illustrious Stars on Ice tour, sponsored by Smuckers. Tara's professional interests extend beyond skating and now include acting. Tara has a wealth of TV experience, including appearances on CBS' top-rated Touched by an Angel, and a recurring role on the most popular soap opera in the country, The Young and the Restless. Her other credits include guest starring in an episode of Nickelodeon's Are You Afraid of the Dark?, as well as Veronica's Closet, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, and Early Edition.

Tara's NBC-TV special, Tara Lipinski's Hip-Hop on Ice, aired in November 2001, along with the Arete Awards CBS-TV special, in which Tara was host and featured performer. Tara's first primetime special, Tara Lipinski - From this Moment, aired in February 1999 on CBS.

She was voted Best Female Athlete at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in 1999 and 2000 and won Best Female Athlete at the inaugural Fox Teen Choice Awards that aired in August 1999, on Fox-TV.

Proving that she is adept in many facets of media, Tara has two books in publication: Totally Tara: An Olympic Journey and Triumph on Ice, An Autobiography. Tara also has graced the cover of McCall's holiday issue and has made numerous appearances on MTV, Oprah, 6 times on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee and many others.

Regardless of all of the other commitments in her life, Tara makes it a priority to donate her time and financial support to a number of organizations. In April 2001, she headlined Tara Lipinski's Miracle Match Tour, a five-city event benefiting children with leukemia. Tara was also a part of Target Teachers Make a Difference campaign, spotlighting the importance of teachers in children's lives.

Along with Denzel Washington and Shaquille O'Neal, Tara is a national spokesperson for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. She is also a spokesperson for the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids. In that role, Tara filmed a national public service announcement and has spoken at the White House. She is a major contributor to the Texas Children's Circle of Care. As if all this weren't enough, Tara frequently visits young patients in children's hospitals while touring the country. Tara recently became affiliated with St.Jude's Children's Research Hospital to support their child-related activities.
